About the office
The Admissions Office is responsible for assessing and processing University applications across multiple channels, ensuring timely and accurate responses to applicants. The role also provides key internal service and coordination support to areas such as Registry and Faculties to facilitate efficient student enrolments.
About the role
The National Manager, Admissions leads a high-performing national admissions function that drives enrolment success, delivers an outstanding applicant experience, and ensures full compliance with policy and regulatory requirements. The position reports to the National Director, Admissions and provides senior leadership and operational oversight of the University’s domestic admissions function, while managing a national Admissions team.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership of the domestic admissions function, overseeing end-to-end operations, enquiry management, data integrity, and collaboration with recruitment teams to support enrolment objectives.
- Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of admissions policies and processes, ensuring efficient application processing, offer management, and progression to enrolment, including TAC processes.
- Set and monitor service standards for application and enquiry response times, including qualification assessment and recommendations to Faculties.
- Build strong cross-functional relationships with Faculties, Marketing, Prospective Student Office, and Registry to support a seamless enrolment pipeline.
- Leverage analytics and reporting, in partnership with the reporting function, to provide insights, inform decision-making, and support senior leadership reporting.
- Drive governance, data quality, and continuous improvement across systems and processes, while ensuring team capability, compliance, and effective service delivery.
- Lead complex reporting investigations and projects related to Admissions performance, including those requiring rapid and accurate turnaround and informing and influencing senior management decision making.
- In conjunction with the National Director, provide governance oversight and management of the standards and integrity of written and verbal communication and data entry across the national Admissions team to ensure quality control and high standards are maintained, including periodic checks to ensure data accuracy.
- In collaboration with other stakeholders, identify, lead and manage the implementation of business process improvement to ensure information management and reporting systems and processes are streamlined to maximise efficiency and avoid duplication and execute change initiatives.
- Ensure that the national Admissions team has the necessary skills, capabilities and tools necessary to meet the service delivery expectations now and into the future.
Qualifications, skills & experience
- Postgraduate qualification (or progress towards completion) and extensive relevant experience, or extensive management experience with demonstrated leadership capability, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience, education, and/or training.
- Extensive knowledge of admissions management and processing, ideally within a university setting, including end-to-end recruitment and enquiry management.
- Proven leadership experience managing admissions or student administration functions in complex organisations, preferably in higher education.
- Demonstrated ability to operate strategically, contributing to institutional planning, policy development, and organisational change.
- Experience leading high-performing, multi-disciplinary teams across multiple locations, driving capability development, service excellence, and change.
- Strong analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data and provide strategic insights for senior decision-making.
- Expertise in process improvement and transformation, with a strong understanding of higher education admissions frameworks, compliance requirements, and TAC processes.
- Highly developed stakeholder engagement, communication, and influencing skills, with experience preparing advice for executive audiences and managing competing priorities in complex environments.
